Summary - basic function of the role

The Manufacturing Engineer is an Engineer who has between 0-5 yrs of Fulltime experience. You will play a crucial role in optimizing our production processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing manufacturing systems, as well as troubleshooting issues and driving continuous improvement initiatives at the Columbus manufacturing facility.

Shift: Monday - Friday; 7:00am - 4:00 pm

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flow diagrams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues related to equipment, processes, or materials.
  • Conduct time studies, analyze production data, and implement lean manufacturing principles.
  • Design and implement layouts for equipment and workspaces to maximize efficiency and safety.
  • Select and implement new manufacturing equipment and technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, quality assurance, and maintenance, to ensure seamless production.
  • Develop and execute validation and testing protocols for manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to track process performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Train production personnel on new processes and equipment.
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing manufacturing performance and improvement initiatives.


Skills and Competencies

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, fabrication, controls, etc.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Pro E).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen).
  • Experience with process optimization, root cause analysis, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in a manufacturing environment.


Education and Experience

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree (BS) in engineering or equivalent from a four-year college or university required.

Experience Requirements: Zero to five years related experience. Machining and assembly/test operations, tooling evaluation, supplier qualification, facilities engineering, new product introduction processes and cost savings through improved processes/efficiencies are strongly preferred.

Physical Demands

Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 30 pounds in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk to a variety of primary work locations. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce. Employee is able to work in front of a personal computer and telephone for long periods of time.

Work Environment

Employee will work in a manufacturing environment. Employee will be exposed to low levels of noise in the office and potentially elevated levels of noise on the plant floor.
