POSITION SUMMARY
EnerStar Solutions Communications Technician II position is a daily operations role who works with the Communications Manager and other technicians installing communications and monitoring equipment. You will be expected to possess skills required to program, setup and install communications and/or satellite equipment as well as monitoring equipment performance on remote worksite locations.
Core Duties & Responsibilities

- Participate in job safety meetings prior to start of an assigned task or project
- Maintain truck logs and vehicle inspection reports (MyGeotab, DVIR)
- Maintain, schedule, and complete all truck PM (oil changes)
- Must be physically fit and able to lift 50lbs unassisted
- Repeatedly ascend and descend ladder
Customer Service
- Communicate and work in a courteous professional manner with co-workers and rig site personnel
- Some overnight travel will be required, daily travel to jobsite will be required, flexible to work long hours
Operational
- Respond to all service calls as assigned by manager
- Fill out Field Cap work order tickets with proper level of detail
- Fill out KPA communications inventory forms with proper level of details (Rig up, Rig down, Rig move, maintenance/repair, site Inventory)
- Be able to Do a Full rig up
Technical
- Deployment of Communications systems, mobilizing and demobilizing the units when needed and ensuring the proper operational functionality of systems
- Input on technical details for improving field procedures and SOP’s
- Ability to log into Net Cloud to check simple LTE parameters of Cradle Point routers
- Working knowledge of simple LTE parameters (RSSI, SINR, Jitter, Latency)
- Working knowledge of antenna set up for optimal signal strength on a site (antenna configuration, radiation pattern etc.)
- Deployment of camera systems, ability to set up a camera system from factory default
- R&M of communications equipment (clean cameras and lens, clean monitors, replace monitor batteries, etc.
- Assist in Comms tower set up and deployment
- Crown Booster setup and deployment
- Must be able to Setup a Starlink, understand and use the Starlink and EnerStarlink portals.
- Must be able to Proficiently setup/program all equipment
- Learn how to deploy a solar trailer
Travel: The individual in this role should be able and willing to travel as required by EnerStar.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
- High school or equivalent
- College diploma or equivalent an asset
Experience
- 2 year telecommunications preferred
- 2 year of experience working in technical teams preferred
- 6 months working satisfactorily at a Comms Tech I level
- Experience installing any or all of internet, cable, intercom, telecom, satellite, or remote monitoring equipment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work well individually or as a team member
- Constantly display professional demeanor
- Computer proficient
- Technical skills in telecom, network design, cable or similar
- Proficiently program basic equipment
- Ability to repair electronics equipment an asset
- Ability to learn to use a Signal Finder to optimize antenna positioning for peak signal strength
- Ability to learn how to set up comms towers and associated booster equipment
