We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at a manufacturing plant, where you will play a critical role in supporting employee health and safety programs. In this role, you will be responsible for performing blood drawing and health screenings to ensure compliance with occupational health standards and workplace wellness initiatives. Your expertise will contribute to monitoring employees' health and assisting in evaluations within a fast-paced industrial environment. The phlebotomist will support the facility's Environment Health and Safety department by being the primary contact person for monthly blood draws and blood lead counseling for the four Springfield plant/warehouse locations. The phlebotomist will also assist with any questions, schedule and conduct regular blood draws, provide training on CPR/First aid and other health and wellness education programs.
Perform venipuncture using sterilized needles, vials, and other equipment while ensuring optimal quality and quantity of samples.
Assist with pulmonary function testing, audiometric testing and vision screening, etc.
Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens for lab testing following proper handling and transportation protocols.
Maintain detailed documentation and input data into electronic health records (EHR) or occupational health databases.
Work closely with occupational health nurse to support health assessments, workplace injury care, and initiatives under the Lead in Blood program such as, but not limited to, counseling's.
Oversee the issuance and filing of the Lead in Blood result notification forms within the required timeframes specified in the Lead Standard.
Ensure compliance with OSHA for bloodborne pathogen safety.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized phlebotomy workspace while adhering to infection control and PPE guidelines in an industrial setting.
Educate employees on proper procedures for testing and answer any related health questions.
Assist in emergency medical situations by supporting first-aid responses as needed.
Identify patients and their personal information using their ID, documents or other means.
Maintain an adequate supply of medical, safety, and health supplies.
Provide support to the Occupational Nurse on workers compensation matters.
Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent credential required.
Must have a minimum 1 year of Phlebotomy experience.
Ability to work various shifts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime
Previous experience in occupational health, industrial, or clinical settings preferred.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace medical surveillance programs is a plus.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees and medical staff.
Work Environment:
Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing plant environment, which may include exposure to noise, temperature variations, and standing for extended periods.
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be required in certain areas of the facility.
