Summary
The electrical apprentice will assist our electrician with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment owned and operated by Enfield Farms, Inc., Northwest Plant Co., and other Enfield Farms LLC’s. The primary function is to gain on-the-job experience and learn from our electrician.
Job Responsibilities & What You’ll Learn on the Job (but not limited to)
- Motor controls.
- Perform infrared thermal imaging.
- Service type work and new construction.
- File and apply for permits as needed.
- Assist with electrical design and maintenance management.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, arc flash, defects, and other needs for adjustment or repair, ensuring compliance with codes. Followed by diagnosis of electrical problem(s) in order to make necessary corrections.
- Create and or maintain as-builts of electrical projects.
- Work with electrical contractors and engineers when necessary.
- Assist with maintaining accurate inventory of electrical parts and material take offs.
- Keep up to date on new products and technologies – always look for ways to improve via technology, enhancements, etc.
Responsibilities to Supervisor
- Operate within the framework of the company’s core values and maintain a continuous improvement mindset.
- Maintain an accurate list of tasks and upcoming work, with realistic timelines.
- Frequently communicate with electrician regarding project updates, questions, and/or concerns.
Working Conditions
Indoor and outdoor environments (farm, freezer, company housing, etc.)
Daily work near moving mechanical parts and has risk of electrical shock
Will occasionally work near fumes or airborne particles.
Will frequent work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
Use of appropriate PPE and safety equipment required when using machinery or tools.
May work in tight confined areas, in loud noise environments
Physical Demands
Frequently lift up to 25 pounds, and infrequently lift up to 100 pounds.
The position requires frequent standing and using of hands to fingers to handle or feel. The job often requires walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing.
Occasionally must climb or balance, stop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Year Round, Full Time (willing to accommodate school schedules if applicable)
Monday – Friday 7am – 4pm (some weekends)
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Proficient with Microsoft Office & Outlook
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred candidate has strong interest in VFD’s and PLC’s
- Team Oriented
- Studying to earn an electrician degree or recently graduated from electrician program
- Apprentice or Journeyman
- Ability and desire to get apprenticeship license
- Pre-requisites of the Electrical program requirements
- Experience in Electrical (degree in progress or degree completion required)
Salary : $20 - $30
