What You Can Expect

As a Power Grid Modeling and Forecasting Analyst in Houston, you will report to Power Congestion Trading Director, you will develop long term grid scenarios and forecast nodal price curves using production cost modeling tools.

  • Execute nodal level production cost models by systematically analyzing and updating the inputs as appropriate
  • Propose, prepare and execute appropriate scenario studies pertinent to the period of study and systematically analyzing the results under the guidance of the Advisor
  • Develop systematic and repeatable approach to analyze and form fundamental views with respect to macro-trends
  • Analyze and determine drivers of Day Ahead and Real Time congestion market outcomes based on macro-fundamentals (supply, demand, renewables) and micro-fundamentals (specific transmission and generation outage impacts, bids, facility limits)
  • Identify model gaps by calibrating the model results to market outcomes and implement appropriate solutions
  • Collaborate with IT personnel to maintain and improve relevant tools
  • Develop and maintain dispatch and flow models, communicating fundamental developments and vies to stakeholders
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to the enhance fundamental trading

  • Build models to track market fundamentals and regularly benchmark against actualizations

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of a four-year degree in which you completed courses in Engineering, Business and Finance or relevant disciplines
  • A minimum of two years of work experience in the energy or finance industry
  • Six recent months of nodal grid planning and wholesale electricity market experience in a relevant Independent System Operator (ISO).
  • Strong understanding of power grid optimization, powerflow shift factors, line-outage distribution factors and contingency analysis
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Clear and effective communicator
  • Willingness to engage in dialogue and debate with colleagues
  • Proficient in coding such as SQL/ Python
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy; 4 days (Monday through Thursday) working in the office
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

Compensation

Salary Range: $74,900 – $114,770 USD annually

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
