What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Manager position at Engine & Transmission?
Job Overview: The Shipping Manager will be responsible for managing the team and the day-to-day operations of the shipping department. This includes assigning appropriate work responsibilities to staff and ensuring the accuracy of same day shipping to customers as well as batch orders sent to warehouses. The Shipping Manager will also be the main proponent in driving safety, improvements, and optimization of all shipping processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe, clean & organized work environment.
- Manage day-to-day shipping operations.
- Drive ongoing safety and productivity improvements.
- Mentor and coach shipping team members. Execute performance reviews.
- Drive for world class performance on key metrics such as, but not limited to: zero injuries, on-time shipping, inventory accuracy, minimum shipping errors.
- Main point of contact for shipping related ERP topics.
- Create and maintain shipping SOPs.
- Liaison with other departments such as customer service, transportation, operations, finance and IT.
- Participate in weekly Sales Inventory & Operations Planning meeting.
- Lead daily standup and weekly department meetings.
- Maintain operational relationships with carriers.

Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree. Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
- Must have at least 5-10 years of warehousing and shipping operations experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on leadership experience in a warehouse setting.
- Forklift certified or ability to become certified.
- Experience and familiarity with ERP systems. SyteLine experience is highly desired.
- Ability to function in a high production environment.
- Must have strong attention to detail.
- Experience working with MS Office products.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
