Job Description



The State Budget Office (SBO) is responsible for developing the governor’s Executive Budget recommendation, presenting budget recommendations to the Legislature, and implementing the approved budget signed by the governor.


The Director of the Office of Health and Human Services (OHHS) is responsible for all program and budget matters relating to health and human services across state government. The position also develops federal revenue maximization options in assigned areas. Budget activities are centered on the Department of Health and Human Services.


Primary responsibilities include: (1) Coordinating all activities involved with the development, presentation, legislative enactment, execution, and control of health and human services appropriations. (2) Monitoring Medicaid special financing programs and other state efforts to maximize federal funding. (3) Directing independent ongoing program and management evaluations of the above programs.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Office location is Lansing, MI, however, this position may work a hybrid work option (combination of remote/in-office) which requires two days working on-site at the official workstation with the potential of up to three days remote work per week.

Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview. Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.

Required Education and Experience

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience
Two years of professional, managerial experience.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
