Job Overview
The Project Mangers job is to plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of Engineered Controls new construction and retrofit projects. The Project Manager will supervise a variety of building control system types including HVAC, Security, Gas Detection, Lighting and Parking systems. The goal will be to ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the sales team to ensure project expectations are understood by the Operations team.
- Coordinate with Engineered Controls in-house Design Engineer on 3rd party equipment submittals, control system submittal preparation, material ordering and delivery to meet the project schedule.
- Coordinate with the owner, general contractor and/or other contractors as it relates to project schedules, job-site meetings, and other project requirements.
- Coordinate with the Electrical Team Leader, plan needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to meeting budget expectations.
- Visit job sites to examine project conditions as it relates to present and future scheduling manpower requirements.
- Monitor and control project budget (both hours and costs).
- Manage Change Orders and support estimating needs as necessary.
- Coordinate start-up and commissioning of control systems with the electrical team leader, software programmer, commissioning technician and others as determined by the project.
- Coordinate owner training and supervise it is being conducted effectively in a professional manner.
- Ensure all project close-out documentation is completed. This includes customer training, closeout documentation and updating control drawings with as-built information for Operation & Maintenance manuals.
- Identify and communicate potential service opportunities to the Service Manager or Owner Direct Account Manager.
- Provide support on existing projects and ensure the systems meet the customer’s expectations during the warranty period.
- Ensure the continued implementation of a company safety program and promote safety on the jobsite.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A BS in Construction Management, Mechanical or Electrical engineering is preferred. A two-year technical degree in Electrical-Mechanical Technology, HVAC systems, Electronics or job-related experience is acceptable.
- Prior knowledge within the HVAC industry, preferably in project management.
- Understanding of project financials.
- In-depth understanding of construction procedures and project management principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Comfortable explaining technical details to others.
- Must be knowledgeable of the construction industry and its practices.
- Must be capable of working under pressure and have effective interpersonal skills, to properly represent Engineered Controls to customers and other outside contacts.
- Experience operating Windows based computers.
- Experience with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook…etc.).
- Experience with Bluebeam and Procore is a plus.
- Must have knowledge of reading blueprints, project specifications, and control drawings.
- Must have a strong knowledge of mechanical and control systems.
- Team player willing to assist others as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Must be well groomed and have a neat appearance.
- Be able to lift and carry ladders, drawings, personal computers, materials, etc.
- Must be physically capable of performing the work of the trade without presenting a hazard to themselves or others. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Be able to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites as needed.
- Be able to climb several flights of stairs or climb ladders throughout a typical day on a construction site.
- Maintain a satisfactory driving record which, per Engineered Controls vehicle policy, allows the individual to drive a company vehicle.
- Actively participate in the company wide Health and Safety program.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
- Valid driver’s license.

Pay: $35.00 - $58.00 per hour
