HVAC Mechanical Field Supervisor
The HVAC Mechanical Field Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing field teams, ensuring project success through effective leadership, manpower planning, safety compliance, and quality control. This role acts as the primary connection between field staff, project managers, and leadership, driving excellence in project execution and team performance.
Key Responsibilities :
Leadership & Accountability
Lead by example, fostering professionalism and accountability across all field personnel, including foremen, journeymen, apprentices, and helpers.
Promote a solution-focused culture through consistent actions and communication.
Supervision & Oversight
Directly supervise field teams to ensure alignment with company standards and expectations.
Serve as the primary liaison between field teams and the Field Operations Manager.
Manpower Planning & Scheduling
Forecast manpower needs and develop weekly schedules with at least a two-week look-ahead.
Optimize resource allocation across projects and ensure effective deployment of field staff.
Project Coordination
Support foremen in project planning, including material requirements, schedules, and logistics.
Attend turnover meetings to confirm project scope and resource needs.
Safety & Compliance
Lead safety initiatives, ensuring adherence to OSHA and company safety policies.
Conduct safety audits, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions.
Performance & Quality Control
Conduct routine site visits to monitor work quality, production, and compliance.
Review foremen's daily reports and address any discrepancies or issues.
Communication
Maintain regular updates with the Field Operations Manager on project progress, manpower needs, and challenges.
Facilitate weekly check-ins with foremen to address concerns and provide feedback.
Resource Management
Ensure proper management and maintenance of tools, equipment, and materials across projects.
Enforce company policies regarding tool care, material handling, and site cleanliness.
Training & Development
Identify training needs and work with leadership to implement programs for skill development.
Provide coaching and feedback to address performance gaps and promote growth.
Project Delivery
Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet client expectations.
Resolve conflicts, delays, or unforeseen challenges affecting project outcomes.
Other Duties
Perform additional tasks or projects as assigned by the Field Operations Manager.
Requirements
6-8 years of experience in HVAC service, including commercial and industrial construction.
Proven leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Strong understanding of manpower planning, safety regulations, quality control, and HVAC building systems.
Universal EPA certification and working knowledge of gas piping, electricity, plumbing, air flow, local codes, and industry standards.
Journeyman licensure is desired.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and hold teams accountable.
High school diploma or equivalent; basic computer skills required.
Proficient in using hand tools and troubleshooting HVAC systems.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Professional demeanor and flexibility to work overtime or weekends as needed.
