The Welder I is responsible for producing a quality weld on instruments according to customer requirements. Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), also known as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, is an arc welding process that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld.

Responsibilities

  • Weld parts consistently and accurately with or without guidance.
  • Inspect product per the inspection plan.
  • Report any non-conforming parts to Supervisor.
  • Maintain welding area for cleanliness and minor preventive maintenance.
  • Record production through Job Boss system.
  • Check to ensure all documentation (routers, inspection sheets, scrap tickets, etc.) is filled in correctly and completely following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Take pride in your workmanship and make it your goal to produce a quality product every time.
  • Support the EMS Quality Policy and Quality Objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must be a certified welder.
  • The use of measuring devices such as digital calipers, micrometers, comparator, etc. is needed to ensure parts meet customer print requirements.
  • Must have basic knowledge / skills operating manual mill and lathe.
  • Must be able to pay attention to details, according to customer prints.
  • Must have a knowledge of basic math for this position.
  • Be able to read and understand the Router.
  • Understand the Data Collection System.
  • Have an understanding of relevant Safety requirements.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in the English language.
  • Restrictions

  • Ability to bend, stoop, grip, reach and lift up to 40 lbs. on a repetitive basis.
  • Good hand to eye coordination and the ability to hold tolerances while achieving the required weld(s).
  • Good vision either natural or thru correction (Glasses / Contacts lens) is needed for this position.
  • Able to stand the majority of the shift to perform duties.
