POSITION SUMMARY
Position: Forklift Driver (525)
Reports to: Warehouse Manager
Location: Greenville, SC
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Forklift Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of steel materials, as well as loading and unloading goods using forklifts, hoists, and other handling equipment. The Forklift Driver will report to the Warehouse Manager and work collaboratively with other departments to ensure smooth material flow and timely product shipments.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Safely load and unload material from flatbed, step deck, and Conestoga trailers, ensuring accurate loading and unloading.
- Proficient in forklift operation, safely handling heavy and oversized materials using forklifts, hand trucks, hoists, and cranes.
- Ensure incoming materials are stored correctly in the designated warehouse location and outbound materials are loaded accurately for shipment.
- Follow all material handling practices, warehouse procedures, and safety protocols to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
- Maintain material flow from receipt of raw materials to outgoing finished goods, ensuring optimal space utilization and efficiency.
- Organize and maintain physical warehouse inventory, ensuring accurate stock levels and visual management.
- Process shipping and receiving documentation such as bills of lading, packing slips, and maintain records for interplant shipments, inventory, and work orders.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure timely and efficient product shipments, meeting production and delivery schedules.
- Proficient in using ERP systems to track shipping transactions and inventory movements.
- Maintain strong attention to detail, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and in compliance with established procedures.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Follow DOT regulations and understand transit/customs documentation to ensure safe and compliant transportation of materials.
- Perform additional duties within the scope of the role as required or assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
- 5 years of experience operating forklifts, with proficiency in handling heavy and oversized materials.
- Forklift certification and safety training preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety guidelines.
- Basic understanding of warehouse operations and material storage practices.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in outdoor conditions, including inclement weather, heat, and humidity. Noise levels may be loud at times, and the role requires frequent interaction with truck drivers, some of whom may have limited communication in English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position involves frequent physical activity, including operating a forklift, loading and unloading materials, and moving steel components. The role requires prolonged periods of sitting while operating equipment, as well as standing, walking, bending, and lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) as needed. Manual dexterity, coordination, and awareness of surroundings are essential for safe and efficient job performance.
