Position Overview:
The Welding Lead will oversee and guide a team of welders, ensuring the efficient and safe completion of welding projects. The successful candidate will possess extensive hands-on welding experience, exceptional leadership skills, and a strong understanding of safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of welders, ensuring high-quality welding work that meets industry standards.
- Monitor the performance and efficiency of welders, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Review and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate welding procedures.
- Ensure all welding work complies with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Conduct inspections of finished welds to guarantee precision and structural integrity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve welding issues, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Maintain equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., production, engineering) to meet project deadlines and goals.
- Assist with estimating material requirements and managing inventory.
- Provide regular feedback to management on welding team performance and progress.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Welding Certification preferred).
- 5 years of welding experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proficient in welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Core preferred.
- Strong knowledge of welding safety procedures and quality control standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot welding-related issues.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet project deadlines.
- Physical ability to perform welding tasks in a variety of conditions, including standing, bending, and lifting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automated or robotic welding systems a plus.
- Knowledge of welding codes and certifications (e.g., AWS, ASME).
- Previous experience working with steel beams.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
