AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the engineering and execution of material handling and storage solution projects, including racking system installations. The ideal candidate will apply engineering principles to ensure projects meet technical, quality, and safety standards while staying on schedule and within budget. This role requires close collaboration with sales, design, manufacturing, site management, and project teams to provide technical expertise and problem-solving capabilities. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering innovative, customer-focused solutions are essential.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Develop and review technical project specifications, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and industry standards.
- Assist in the creation of project plans, including engineering designs, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Work closely with the design and manufacturing teams to ensure accurate project execution from concept to installation.
- Conduct engineering calculations, structural analysis, and feasibility studies for racking systems and material handling solutions.
- Support project site installations by providing technical guidance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings, providing engineering input to improve project execution.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks to ensure project deliverables meet or exceed performance expectations.
- Assist in procurement and vendor coordination, ensuring materials and components meet design specifications.
- Monitor and track project progress, reporting technical challenges and solutions to stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and field verifications to ensure engineering accuracy and compliance with customer specifications.
- Document engineering changes, maintain project records, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Must be able to lift 50 or more pounds at a time.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or a related field).
- 3-5 years of experience in project engineering, preferably in material handling, racking systems, construction, or manufacturing.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and engineering analysis tools.
- Strong knowledge of structural design principles, load calculations, and material properties.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or EIT certification is a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% for site visits and project support
