What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead STEM Instructor position at Engineering For Kids of Southwest Houston?
Multiple STEM Instructor Positions available (Hands-on Engineering, Minecraft, Robotics, Coding, 3D Printing and more)
Licensed professionals plus university level engineering students are welcome to apply. We need lead classroom teachers, teacher assistants and birthday party instructors/ coordinators.
Company Overview:
Children have a natural curiosity that lends itself to science, technology, math, and engineering. At Engineering For Kids of Southwest Houston, we inspire kids ages 4 to 14 to build on their innate desire for answers by exploring engineering concepts in a fun, hands-on way. We offer after-school programs, evening and weekend classes, camps, birthday parties, and special events designed to present kids with challenging, yet accessible engineering activities from which they can learn and grow. Our program is delivered throughout Missouri City, Sugar Land, Fresno, Richmond, Sienna Plantation, Fulshear, Rosenberg, Richmond, and Beasley. We will have a store location opening in December at Williams Trace Plaza in Sugar Land.
We provide everything you need to successfully lead classes including supplies, equipment and foundational curriculum. While much of our curriculum is planned, we love it when instructors bring their own passions, expertise and creative ideas to their classes!
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, interactive lessons on topics such as chemical engineering, marine engineering, robotics, and more, using age-appropriate materials for children aged 4-14.
- Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all students are actively participating and following safety protocols during activities.
- Set up classroom activities, experiments, and projects in advance, ensuring all necessary materials are available and properly organized for smooth lesson delivery.
- Foster curiosity and creativity by encouraging students to think critically, solve problems, and work collaboratively on engineering challenges.
- Monitor student engagement and understanding, providing feedback to both students and parents on their progress in STEM concepts and skills development.
You are someone who:
- Has worked with children (large groups)
- Can break down and explain challenging concepts in a way that children can relate
- Has experience in the service industry and understands the importance of customer service
- Can communicate clearly and concisely and enjoys speaking in front of groups of children
- Can think on your feet and find solutions to every day camp issues or challenges
- Has a real interest and experience in S.T.E.M fields - particularly: engineering, robotics, coding, Minecraft
- Has a real interest in teaching through hands-on play and activities
