Position Overview:
The API Inspector is responsible for conducting thorough inspections of pressure vessels, piping systems, and related components in accordance with API standards and client specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a strong work ethic. This role requires a team-oriented professional who can work efficiently both independently and collaboratively in field environments.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist NDE Technicians in performing inspections using various NDE methods (e.g., UT, RT, MT, PT, VT).
- Prepare test areas, materials, and equipment for examinations.
- Maintain equipment and ensure proper calibration and cleanliness.
- Accurately record inspection data and maintain documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Always adhere to safety protocols and company procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job status and any issues.
- Demonstrate willingness to learn and apply NDE methods and principles.
- Perform general labor and support duties as assigned by technicians or supervisors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Classroom training hours and on-the-job training (OJT) in NDE are beneficial.
- Must be able to pass a background check (no past or present felonies).
- Must pass a hair follicle drug screen and urine test.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Strong work ethic; responsible, reliable, and dependable.
- Team-oriented and able to work well with others.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the NDE profession.
- Experience with CRM software (Salesforce), Microsoft Office, and digital inspection tools.
- Business acumen with a focus on client development and solution-driven selling.
- Strong safety mindset and understanding of field HSE requirements.
Physical Conditions:
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
· Requires extended periods of standing, walking, climbing ladders/scaffolding, crouching, and kneeling.
· Must be physically able to wear required PPE including FR clothing, hard hat, gloves, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and respiratory protection as needed.
· Ability to perform inspections in physically demanding environments for extended periods.
Working Environment:
· Work performed in industrial, construction, and fabrication environments including refineries, pipelines, plants, and field sites.
· Exposure to varying weather conditions, heights, confined spaces, and potentially hazardous materials.
· Travel to different job sites is often required.
· May include overtime, night shifts, weekends, and long hours depending on project schedules.
