What are the responsibilities and job description for the Level II RT/UP/PT/MT NDE Technicians position at Engineering & Inspection Services?
Position Overview:
The Level II NDE Technician is responsible for performing Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) using Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Penetrant Testing (PT), and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) techniques. This position requires proven competence and certification in multiple NDE methods, along with the ability to document and report inspection results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures. Classroom and on-the-job training (OJT) hours are beneficial and will be considered.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Perform Level II inspections in RT, UT, PT, and MT methods in compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
· Set up and calibrate NDE equipment for various inspection methods.
· Interpret and evaluate test results for acceptance or rejection determinations.
· Accurately document and report all inspection findings, including preparation of detailed reports and maintaining required records.
· Ensure inspections are completed safely, efficiently, and with a high level of quality.
· Work closely with clients, supervisors, and other team members to ensure clear communication and expectations.
· Maintain and care for all NDE equipment and tools.
· Follow all company and site-specific safety procedures and policies.
· Assist in the training and mentoring of Level I personnel as needed.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Documented classroom training and OJT hours for RT, UT, PT, and MT Level II certifications (ASNT or equivalent).
· Must be able to pass a background check (no past or present felonies).
· Must pass a hair follicle drug screen and urine test.
· Valid driver’s license required.
· Strong understanding of NDE standards and procedures.
· Team-oriented with the ability to work well with others in diverse environments.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Reliable, responsible, and committed to high standards of quality and safety.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
Physical Conditions:
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
· Requires extended periods of standing, walking, climbing ladders/scaffolding, crouching, and kneeling.
· Must be physically able to wear required PPE including FR clothing, hard hat, gloves, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and respiratory protection as needed.
· Ability to perform inspections in physically demanding environments for extended periods.
Working Environment:
· Work performed in industrial, construction, and fabrication environments including refineries, pipelines, plants, and field sites.
· Exposure to varying weather conditions, heights, confined spaces, and potentially hazardous materials.
· Travel to different job sites is often required.
· May include overtime, night shifts, weekends, and long hours depending on project schedules.
