About the Position:
The Reality Capture Registration Specialist will be responsible for processing and registering 3D laser scans for industrial sites, petrochemical plants, and commercial buildings. This role requires expertise in Leica Register 360 and/or Faro Scene along with Autodesk Recap to ensure high-accuracy deliverables. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in reality capture registration. Field capture experience is a plus.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Main duty of this position is to register laser scan data using Leica Register 360 and/or Faro Scene.
• Ensure high-accuracy data alignment by implementing best practices for scan registration.
• Manage large-scale scan datasets, ensuring proper storage, backup, and archiving.
• Create structured point clouds, web viewers, and other deliverables for client use.
• Provide technical support and training to clients on scan viewing software / web viewers.
• Assist software developers and internal teams as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Expertise in Leica Register 360 and/or Faro Scene for scan registration.
• Expertise in Autodesk Recap file creation, cleanup and export.
• Strong understanding of point cloud processing, alignment, and filtering.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage large-scale scanning projects independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
• Experience with additional reality capture software such as Autodesk ReCap, Leica Cyclone, or NavVis Ivion is preferred.
Education and Experience:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for client interactions and reporting.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in reality capture, lidar scanning, and scan registration.
• Experience working in industrial, petrochemical, or commercial construction environments preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Comfortable with prolonged periods of desk work for scan processing.
• Ability to walk job sites carrying scanning equipment for extended periods if needed.
• Capability to climb ladders and stairs while carrying scanning devices if needed.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs for loading/unloading equipment if needed.
• Must adhere to all client site safety requirements if candidate is sent to the field.
• TWIC card required for access to restricted sites if needed.
