Job Title : CNC Engineering Technician

Summary
Organizes and performs a full range of duties of a complex nature that requires
- a thorough understanding of departmental functions, policies, and procedures;
recommending and implementing solutions to the day-to-day operation, quality
and performance problems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Intimate operating knowledge of all available processing equipment and processes.CNC programming and the ability to troubleshoot and reset probe and artifact alarms.CNC production setup.
Quality control CMM testingProduction system knowledge.Communicate effectively, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.Minimum Qualifications
High School Diplomas or Equivalent.Previous set-up fixture experience required.At least two years of CNC lathe and milling experience required with setup, fixturing and operation.Strong CNC programming experience preferred.Previous CMM experience required.Must have exceptional problem solving abilities.Must be able to work independently.Must be detail oriented and organized.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Carry out the detailed analysis of all production faults to determine root causes, preventative and corrective actions and to methodically eliminate faults using modern problem-solving techniques.Implement and develop improvements to increase production, efficiency, and overall quality, while reducing costs.Assist in the development and training of multi-skilled teams.Ensure that all health and safety and environmental issues and improvements are maintained leading to a safe working environment.Carry out effective shift handover with the oncoming shift to adequately communicate key information.Ensure good housekeeping and safety practices are adhered to using the 5S tool.Ensure process documentation is in place, being used, and make recommendations for improvements.Support the implementation and launch of new products or processes into production.Ensure proper management, control, and replenishment of consumables.Work closely with the management team to ensure that any production, quality, and engineering problem is reacted to quickly or escalated to the appropriate site manager to ensure that corrective actions can be taken.Other duties as assigned.This role may have the opportunity to specialize or cross-train in different disciplines within the company. Below are some duties that may be performed within each of these disciplines.Assigned duties are not limited to this list.Operations-specific :
Produce parts daily when the scheduled operator is unavailable.Conduct periodic audits of production processes.Assist in troubleshooting of machines, including resetting alarms and making offsets as needed.Perform or assist in production set-ups, tool change and the setup of sister tools sister tooling.Performs inventories and assist in preparing shipments as needed (forklift certification required)Quality-specific :
Administer scrap and rework information.Responsible for reporting customer-specific data.Monitor production parts as needed.Responsible for scrap and rework production.Measuring and collecting PPAP and other data.Administer gauge calibration and database.Administer the LPA program.Engineering-specific :
Revise, develop, and document simple preventative maintenance tasks on equipment.Manually machine parts as needed to support demand maintenance activities.Support the fluid management program.Perform monthly preventive maintenance activities as needed.Shift Pattern - 4-week rotation of :
1st shift - 5 : 45 am to 2 : 15pm
2nd shift - 1 : 45 pm to 10 : 15pm $0.5
3rd shift - 9 : 45 pm to 6 : 15am $1
Physical Demands
Prolong sitting, standing, walking and reaching with hands and arms, frequent lifting and / or moving up to 40 pounds, bending, crawling, climbing and kneeling. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, computers and other office equipment.
Working Environment
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment, noise level is moderate. Work will require rotating shifts. Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 40 pounds. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, hardhats, gloves, aprons. Loose fitting clothes and jewellery are not permitted on shop floor. Exposure to chemicals and / or fumes probable.
