Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi) is an engineering and scientific investigation and failure analysis firm. We primarily work with law firms, insurance companies, and manufacturers on small to large-scale projects to answer any technical questions they have. Our projects can entail investigating major transportation accidents, equipment failures, personal injury claims, and residential or commercial structures damage. About This Role
This position will review and analyze medical records, legal documents, investigative documents, standards, and literature, and prepares documents and analysis to assist Engineering and Medical Consultants.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and analyze forensic, medical, nursing, engineering, and other sources such as standards, articles, and textbooks that provide the theoretical foundation for project development.
- Review and analyze medical records for deviations from the medical and nursing standards of care.
- Investigate medical records and prepare medical documents, medical chronologies, injury diagrams, medical illustrations, and summaries to assist in project development.
- Maintain and manage document files.
- Review, analyze, and prepare summaries of other project documents, including government reports, investigative documents, depositions, disclosures, and other legal documents.
- Explore and investigate strengths and weaknesses in projects to bolster Engineering and Medical Consultants' opinion in preparation for trial or deposition.
- Assist Engineering and Medical Consultants in the development of protocols for the testing or evaluation of particular medical and scientific hypotheses.
- Assist Engineering and Medical Consultants with medical analysis and injury causation investigation.
- Assist in the development of medical and legal exhibits used as demonstrative evidence in legal proceedings.
- Assist Engineering and Medical Consultants in surrogate studies during project development.
Qualifications
Education Required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
- Legal nurse consultant certification required
- Forensic Nursing Certificate preferred
Experience
- 3 to 5 years experience in a medical/legal environment and/or forensic nursing
- 3 years experience in a clinical setting
- 2 years experience preparing medical chronologies/summaries
Other Skills/Abilities or Other Qualifications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in the following computer software programs; Word, PowerPoint, and Acrobat.
- A positive team player actively engaging and collaborating with others in accomplishing project work and office goals both within their regional office as well as across offices throughout ESi.
- Maintain an investigative mindset.
- Extremely detail oriented and focused.
- Motivated and self-starter.
- Well organized, able to manage time, and multi-task to accomplish a multitude of case assignments, with conflicting priorities and timelines.
