What are the responsibilities and job description for the Virtual Events Coordinator Volunteer position at Engineers & Scientists Acting Locally?

Engineers & Scientists Acting Locally seeks to inspire, encourage, and empower people in STEM to be active civic participants. We are a dedicated group of volunteers working to help our fellow members of the STEM community more effectively engage with their local communities and governments. And we would be thrilled to have you join our ranks.
ESAL is seeking 1-2 volunteers to join ESAL’s Events team. In the past year, our team has hosted virtual panel discussions on a wide range of topics. These events provide engineers and scientists with practical information about STEM-related issues and opportunities to have an impact through local engagement. By joining our team, new volunteers will help us to expand the reach of our virtual events and have creative input into the overall direction and themes of our virtual programming.
As an ESAL Virtual Event Coordinator you will :
- Take the lead in planning and organizing 1-2 events per year, with support from the events team
- Provide additional support and insight to other events as able and interested
- Help identify, contact, and communicate with panelists for virtual discussions
- Communicate with partner organizations who are co-hosting events
- Coordinate with ESAL’s Social Media Team, Web Team, and Content Team to ensure smooth logistics for virtual events
- Contribute about 5-10 hours per event of your time to do the above
- Attend bimonthly Events Team meetings
- Make at least a 6 month commitment to volunteering with ESAL
