The Roll Tender will operate the reelstands and maintain an adequate supply of paper to the press.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
REASONING, MATH and LANGUAGE SKILLS Must be able to reason through situations that require routine decisions during operation of his or her equipment. When a situation arises that requires additional help the employee should immediately contact the Supervisor. Knowledge of basic English, math and minor computer skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Required to stand and use hands to lift and handle the product. Frequently reaches with their hands and arms. Occasionally walks, stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Frequently lifts between 10 - 25 pounds and occasionally lifts from 25 - 75 pounds. Occasionally moves product from one department to another or within the department by pushing or pulling mail carriers, pallet jacks and waste hampers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Press department is climate controlled. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level in the work area is moderate.

Job Description
The Roll Tender will operate the reelstands and maintain an adequate supply of paper to the press.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Works closely with the 1st Operator to ensure that production goals are met.
- Reviews Job Information Sheets to ensure all jobs are being produced according to specifications with regards to the correct paper stock.
- Communicates with warehouse material handler in a timely manner to order paper stock in the correct size, basis weight, brightness and adequate quantities. This is primarily performed using Pick Tickets.
- Able to prepare splices for new rolls that are successful in keeping the press running.
- Able to make efficient use of their time through proper time management and good organizational skills.
- Assists crew with makeready duties and during downtimes.
- Troubleshoots problems in reelstand area to keep equipment in good running condition. Will request and submit maintenance tickets when needed.
- Makes efficient use of supplies, maintains awareness of costs involved in production.
- Helps monitor preventive maintenance and cleanliness of equipment to ensure its optimum operation. Notifies Shift Supervisor if PM schedule is falling behind.
- Provides training for new team members
- Actively participates in the process improvement of all aspects of the department.
- Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to, the proper handling of hazardous materials, machine safeguarding, lock out- tag out, hearing protection and attire requirements.
- Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
- Meets shift attendance requirements.
