    POSITION SUMMARY:
    This individual will implement effective teaching practices, interventions, and assessments that encourage student success and supports instruction that promotes achievement for all students. Develop, coordinate, implement and adjust instructional programs to meet the needs of students. Encourage parent/guardian involvement in student learning through open communication. Utilize technology to advance program and increase student involvement/achievement. This position includes one hour of planning each day (5 hrs/day). Students attend from 8:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Create a positive learning environment and effective management structures to purposefully promote and foster effective teaching, learning, and student achievement.
    • Create an instructional learning environment that establishes routines and provides for student engagement through questioning, speculation, and originality.
    • Support IEP goals and student performance.
    • Promote a learning environment respecting the dignity of the child that is perceived by students as fair and consistent.
    • Incorporate additional learning opportunities.
    • Ensure all classroom processes, procedures and data collection are highly organized and effective with optimal use of instructional time.
    • Motivate, engage, and empower learners to track and monitor his/her learning.
    • Design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes aligned with 21st Century learning.
    • Demonstrate mastery of content and is able to make curriculum rigorous and relevant to all students.
    • Deliver content that is relevant to students and applicable to the real world.
    • Integrate and align Colorado Academic Standards, instructional objectives, instructional strategies, learning activities, materials, resources and assessments and differentiate lesson planning based on individual student needs.
    • Use data management tools to analyze results and draw inferences from data to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement.
    • Provide quality, accurate, constructive, corrective, specific and timely feedback to students that encourages them to perform at their highest level.
    • Utilize technology and/or other avenues to communicate to stakeholders (website, podcasts, etc.).
    • Apply and implement knowledge, skills and new understandings to improve instructional programming.
    • Advocate for and lead initiatives that will enhance student success in and out of school.
    • Use professional literature; evidence based research, and continuing education content to make practice decisions.
    • Use professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision-making in practice.
    • Notify the Principal and Director of Student Services of any failure to implement the requirements of assigned students IEP.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

    SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Supervision of support personnel.
    Conduct supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to interview participation, training/development, assign and direct work, performance feedback, address complaints and resolve problems.

    BUDGET AND/OR RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Prioritize and schedule work tasks independently.
    Create and implement effective and efficient process management strategies (e.g., procedures, instructional groups, transition materials and supplies).
    Accurately projects need for budget planning.
    Maintain accurate records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and school system policy.
    Review processes for improvement opportunities and make changes as needed to ensure quality of instruction.

    EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
    Bachelor’s degree.
    Master’s degree (preferred).
    English fluency will be determined through the interview process and licensure.

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
    Valid Colorado Driver’s License.
    Valid Colorado Teaching License with Special Education Generalist or equivalent endorsement.

    • Complies with all District policies and procedures.
    • Adheres to federal and state laws, regulations, and policies.

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Frequent lifting 5 (five) to 10 (ten) pounds.
    Occasional lifting of up to one hundred fifty (150) pounds.
    Frequent sitting, bending, walking, stooping, kneeling, squatting, reaching and standing.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Mostly clean and comfortable.

    REPORTS TO:
    Director of Student Services or designee.

    LOCATION:
    Bishop Elementary School

    SALARY:
    $40.88 per hour (based on negotiated agreement). Position will be paid hourly, one month in arrears (i.e. Hours worked in July will be paid in August).

    CLOSING DATE:
    This position will close 5 days from the posting date. If vacancy is not filled within 5 days, the vacancy will remain posted until filled.
