English, Lucas, Priest, and Owsley, LLP is seeking an experienced Real Estate Paralegal to join our Bowling Green, KY office.
ELPO Law has served Bowling Green and the surrounding areas of the Commonwealth of Kentucky for over 50 years. As the largest, full-service law firm in the region, we are looking for a candidate who has at least 7 years of experience. This Paralegal position will assist attorneys in our Real Estate group.
Hourly rate based on experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Duties/Responsibilities:·
- Review and prepare general correspondence, mortgages, deeds, assignment of leases and rents, etc.
- Review purchase and sale contracts
- Review, request, and order mortgage payoffs, etc.
- Record important dates and maintain files
- Organize closing funds
- Calendar all critical dates and contingencies
- Prepare a closing checklist, which includes outlining critical dates and the responsibilities of all parties
- Coordinate closing with all parties in the transaction, including the buyer, sellers, title insurance company, opposing counsel, and lender
- Prepare closing documents, closing reports, and accounts
- Conduct a title search and prepare title opinions and commitments
- Review and analyze the survey
- Record all required real estate documents, and when recorded, perform follow up title clearing, remit title insurance and forward documents to proper parties
- Obtain and prepare corporate documents, including authorization of the applicable parties to purchase/sell
- Conduct public record searches of parties, including judgment, tax liens, and UCC filings
- Obtain closing figures from the bank and prorate amounts for real and property taxes, utilities, and rent

Education and Experience:
- At least 7 years of experience as a real estate paralegal required
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal studies or related field preferred
- Paralegal certificate preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
