What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Assistant position at English Meadows Senior Living Communities?
Our number one priority is providing excellent care to our wonderful Residents. We are looking for a positive, compassionate Activity Assistant to help coordinate events and engaging activities for our Residents to enrich their stay in our community. You will assist the Activities Director in expressing creativity in the group and one on one activities planned for the community daily.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Two or more years of programming experience with seniors preferred.
FUNCTIONS:
- High level of ability in effective and succinct communication, written and oral, with residents, families, staff, vendors, and the general public.
- Must have compassion for and a desire to work with individuals 55 years and older.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a team member as well as an individual.
- Must have exceptional organizational skills.
- Must have experience planning, organizing, and implementing a varied schedule of life enrichment opportunities for all levels of seniors from those who are very active to those more reserved.
- Ability to represent Bermuda Village in a positive and professional manner.
- Ability to establish effective relationships with residents, family members, and staff.
- Requires current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Must pass criminal background check.
- Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities (essential job functions), with or without reasonable accommodation.
Essential functions
- Assist in the development of a varied program of meaningful activities and events that is balanced in the physical, spiritual, social, emotional, and cognitive domains.
- Assist the Director of Activities in the planning of the monthly newsletter.
- Co-host or host activities as needed.
- Assist in the development of a program of outings that encourages the people who live at Bermuda Village to be involved in their external community.
- Decorate the common areas for special events and holidays.
- Conduct individual and group interactions.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Executive Director or Director of Activities.
Residents’ rights
- Ensure compliance and understanding of all regulations regarding residents’ rights.
Working conditions (travel, hours, environment)
- Is subject to frequent interruptions.
- Is involved with resident, personnel, and visitors under all conditions and circumstances.
- Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, staff and visitors.
- Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors and staff.
- Works beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
- Is subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
- Meet and greet visitors in a friendly, helpful manner (Visitors include anyone who visits the community; specifically, current residents’ families and friends, prospective residents and their families, referral sources, vendors, and regulators).
- Answer phones appropriately, according to company and community standards.
- Communicate professionally and cooperate with supervisor and all community personnel.
- Monitor and evaluate customer satisfaction. Work as a part of the team to develop appropriate action plans to continually improve satisfaction levels.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
