About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Estimator to join a top-tier general contractor in Columbus, OH. This is a critical role within the estimating team, with a dedicated focus on industrial projects, including manufacturing plants, EV plants, and large-scale industrial facilities.

This position will be responsible for conceptual estimating and preconstruction efforts for major industrial projects while working as part of a larger, well-established estimating department. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in industrial construction estimating, a strong ability to lead conceptual bids, and a deep understanding of cost drivers, procurement strategies, and subcontractor relationships in the industrial sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual and hard bid estimating efforts for large-scale industrial projects, including manufacturing and EV plants.
• Analyze project documents, drawings, and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates, budgets, and pricing strategies.
• Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure well-informed estimates and preconstruction strategies.
• Evaluate historical cost data, labor, materials, and equipment costs to ensure accurate pricing and forecasting.
• Develop and maintain strong subcontractor and supplier relationships, ensuring competitive pricing and accurate scope coverage.
• Work closely with the broader estimating department, supporting general estimating efforts while remaining the subject matter expert for industrial projects.
• Provide value engineering recommendations to optimize project budgets and enhance constructability.
• Assist in the preparation of RFQs, RFPs, and bid proposals, ensuring clarity and alignment with project goals.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope reviews to ensure accurate bid submissions.

Qualifications

• 8 years of experience in construction estimating, with a strong background in manufacturing plants, EV plants, and industrial facilities.
• Proven ability to lead conceptual estimating efforts and develop accurate early-phase cost models.
• Strong knowledge of industrial construction methods, procurement strategies, and cost analysis.
• Proficiency in estimating software and project management tools, such as OST, ProEst, Procore, or similar platforms.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work closely with owners, designers, and subcontractors.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines while ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required with relevant experience.
