Chief Information Security Officer Role

The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) is a senior leader responsible for safeguarding SMU's information assets and technologies. They ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our digital resources, aligning with regulatory and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive information security and IT risk management program to protect university assets and personal data.
• Oversight of security policies, standards, and procedures in line with best practices and regulations.
• Lead strategic security planning, contributing to infrastructure design, application development, and disaster recovery frameworks.
• Manage security aspects of vendor relationships and build relationships with external agencies.
• Develop and implement security training for faculty and staff to ensure security awareness and compliance.

Requirements:

• Prior managerial experience in an Information Technology context.
• Extensive experience in information security and/or IT risk management with a focus on security, performance, and reliability.
• Solid understanding of security protocols and operations.
• Working knowledge of current IT risks and experience implementing security solutions.
