Job Summary
The Rehabilitation Counseler plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and autism, guiding them towards achieving their personal and professional goals. Responsibilities
- Provide individualized mentoring and support to clients with developmental disabilities and autism.
- Educate clients on employment labor laws and rights to empower them in the workforce.
- Develop and implement training programs that focus on skill-building and personal development.
- Conduct addiction counseling sessions as needed, offering guidance and resources for recovery.
- Collaborate with community organizations to facilitate workforce development opportunities for clients.
- Assist in recruiting suitable job placements that align with clients' skills and interests.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and program effectiveness.
- Foster a supportive environment that encourages client independence and self-advocacy.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in rehabilitation counseling or a related counseling field is preferred
- Preferred: Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS), or Accredited Vocational Evaluator (ABVE).
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of addiction counseling techniques is a plus.
- Proven ability in mentoring and training development within a rehabilitation context.
- Familiarity with employment labor laws and workforce development practices is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with clients and stakeholders.
- Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to empowering individuals towards achieving their goals.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in vocational rehabilitation, labor market research, or career counseling.
- Experience with Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation cases preferred.
