Job Summary
Staff Psychiatrist - Children/Youth Outpatient provider
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in clinical staff diagnosis/evaluation of clients in the Outpatient Program
- Provide medical psychiatric treatment of clients
- Be available for consultation and providing information to agencies coordinating their work with ours
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative, medical, and non-medical mental health staff, clients, and the general public
- Assure that clients admitted to clinics require the level of care offered by different programs
- Participate in general staff meetings as requested
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures applicable to this position
Requirements
- Masters degree or above in a related field
- Completion of an approved three (3) year psychiatric residency training program
- Valid DEA registration
- Experience working with mental health consumers
- Eligibility for examination and certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
- Valid physician and surgeon license to practice medicine in the State of California
- Eligible to bill for Medicare and Medi-Cal reimbursable services
Skills and Qualifications
- Familiarity with principles of psychiatry and general medicine, individual, family, and group psychotherapy
- Knowledge of current developments in the field of psychiatry, mental health, alcohol and drug services organizations, and procedures
- Awareness of principles and applications of psychiatric social work, clinical psychology, alcohol and drug treatment, and various rehabilitation therapies
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required
