Description
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of personnel so classified.
Position Summary :
The Psychiatrist will perform psychiatric evaluations on a scheduled and emergency basis, develop and implement treatment plans, and work with the treatment team to optimize care for clients. This site is a Children / Youth Outpatient provider.
Core Duties and Responsibilities :
- Perform intakes and diagnostic interviews on a scheduled and emergency basis.
- Make expert diagnosis, interpretation, recommendation in providing consultation to treatment team.
- Participate in clinical staff diagnosis / evaluation of clients in the Outpatient Program.
- Provide medical psychiatric treatment of clients.
- Write prescriptions and monitor medication effectiveness and side effects.
- Be available for consultation and providing information to agencies, which are coordinating their work with that of the clinics.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative, medical and non-medical mental health staff, clients and the general public.
- Assure that the clients admitted to clinics require the level of care in which the different programs offer.
- Serve on the Utilization Review Committee as requested.
- Consult as necessary with the Director of Psychiatric Services on unusual, complex or serious cases.
- Meet with the Director of Psychiatric Services on a regular basis.
- Comply with SD / MC standards for chart documentation.
- Participate in general staff meeting as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures as applicable.
