What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Clerk position at Ennis ISD?
Primary Purpose:
Perform duties in SPED administrative office including, but not limited to: Special education finance and contract staff time sheets. Answer phones, direct calls and take messages in a professional manner. Assist the Assessment Staff(s), speech and language pathologist(s), and teacher(s) in the preparation and management of Admission, Review, Dismissal (ARD) meetings and accompanying documentation. Work under the general supervision of the Director of Special Education. Provide clerical and other support services to the special education office staff and others as assigned
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Computer, typing, receptionist and filing skills necessary
Other office equipment skills such as fax, copier, etc.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively
Bilingual preferred (ability to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently)
Experience:
Knowledge of general office equipment
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Assessment Support:
- Assist Assessment Staff prepare materials and ARDS.
- Interpret bilingual ARDs as needed.
- Assist maintain special education compliance.
- Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of files.
- Assist Assessment Staff with mailings, files and required reports.
- Provide regular audit of files to ensure special education compliance.
Special Education Office:
- Assist Director, Coordinator and Office Manager as needed.
- Sped Finance (work with finance department to enter purchase orders and maintain spreadsheets)
- Maintain time sheets for hourly special education employees and coordinating spreadsheets and files.
- Maintain SPED spreadsheets and reports.
- Complete SPED Record Requests.
Other:
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Willingly work with SPED team to complete assignments.
- Maintain positive attitude when learning new assignments and projects.
- Assist with routine office needs as assigned
- Answer phones in a professional manner
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
