Job Description
The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, machinery and equipment in a manufacturing facility. Their role ensures optimal performance of electrical systems in an efficient and safe manner while preventing or minimizing downtime in production processes.
- Install and wire new electrical systems at or below 480V for manufacturing equipment and machinery as described in machine specs.
- Perform regular maintenance checks and inspections on electrical systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose faults or issues in electrical circuits, control systems, motors, etc. and provide necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
- Repair or replace faulty components such as wiring, circuit breakers, switches, and motors.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations regarding electrical installations and repairs; report any significant electrical failures, safety hazards or compliance issues to management.
- Collaborate and provide support for with maintenance teams, engineers, and production to coordinate electrical work on machines or systems.
- Ensure that all electrical work complies with local and national electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies.
- Perform lock-out/tag-out procedures and other safety protocols when working on electrical equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
- Complete maintenance logs and create reports to track electrical work performed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or an apprenticeship in electrical systems is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience (10 years’ preferred experience) working as an certified electrician in a manufacturing or industrial environment with strong knowledge of 480V electrical systems, circuits, components and industrial machinery and automation systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, such as multimeters and circuit testers.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with PLCs and programmable control systems.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to stand, kneel, or crouch for long periods, ability to lift heavy equipment and tools (up to 50 pounds or more).
- Comfortable working in various environments, including confined spaces, heights, and at different temperatures. Works in a manufacturing or industrial setting, which may involve exposure to machinery noise, dust, and various environmental conditions.
