Job Description

Under general direction, the successful candidate will perform guided lab-scale experiments to characterize and develop EnPower’s electrode architecture and materials. This candidate will work with a cross-functional team in a rapid-paced and iterative environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build coin cells to analyze electrodes electrochemical performance, for example, charge/discharge rate capacity and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
  • Process datasets using analytical software and programming languages such as Python.
  • Work cross-functionally with cell development team to optimize anode, cathode and separator performance for specific customer applications.
  • Characterize slurries using pH probe, surface tension, and conductivity meters.
  • Characterize electrode coatings using 4-point probes, SEM analysis, optical microscope, mandril test, and peel test.
  • Complete lab-scale mixing, coating, and calendaring experiments.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiatives, exercise judgment, and work independently.
  • Ability to thrive under time pressures while naturally embracing changing priorities.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or materials science
  • Experience working in a wet lab environment
  • Detailed work ethic, close attention to detail, and precise communication
  • Prior experience in making and testing coin cells preferred
  • Experience working with lab-scale battery testing preferred
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform the following for extended periods of time:
    • Standing or sitting
    • Climbing/squatting/walking
    • Repetitive motions and lifting
