MEDIA PLANNER/BUYER
Role Overview: The candidate will be responsible for developing and executing media buying strategies to ensure that advertising campaigns effectively reach our clients’ target audiences. This role involves negotiating and purchasing advertising space and time across various media channels, including television, radio, print, outdoor and some digital.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong understanding of media fundamentals and terminology (CPM, CPP, GRP, etc.)
- Gather and analyze appropriate research to provide sound and strategic media recommendations.
- Communicate with media vendors to negotiate and request proposals for diverse client list
- Ensure proper execution of media plans by monitoring buys/schedules.
- Monitor results and post-performance
- Inputting of buys, trafficking, issuing of Insertion Orders, assistance with Billing Process, updating team status documents and working across the internal teams
- Ability to work in media buying software and knowledge of ratings services (i.e., Comscore and/or Nielsen)
- Analyze media programs and reports to look for new opportunities and campaign optimization
- Regularly solicit and evaluate added-value opportunities for clients.
- Develop and retain good relationships with stations
- Regularly communicate details about schedules, stations, and any research
- Understand traffic procedures and deadlines
Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred in advertising or marketing communications)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of traditional broadcast media (either media company, advertising agency or broadcast station)
- Substantial analytical & spreadsheet/Excel skills
- Technical proficiency with media-buying software and tools
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable rates and placements
- A proactive approach to identifying and solving issues
- Effectively able to handle many tasks simultaneously
- Effective communication skills both written and verbal with considerable attention to detail
- Experience in MS office suite
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
