The Director of Rooms is a key role responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of our resort’s hotel guest-facing departments, including the front office, housekeeping, and guest services. We are looking for someone who is passionate about ensuring seamless guest experience by managing staff, maintaining quality standards, and optimizing room revenue while meeting guest expectations. We are looking for a candidate who can deliver world class guest service and build brand loyalty with each guest. Oversee and coordinate daily operations of the rooms division and ensure maximum guest and associate satisfaction in a gracious and professional manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and supervise all direct reports as outlined in the organizational chart daily.
- Guarantee the quality of all products and services is consistent and of the highest standard.
- Directly impact the overall service of Vintners Resort customers through division operations.
- Manage operations using established personnel, policies, standard operating procedures, and annual budget guidelines.
- Ensure operational goals and financial results are met through daily direction and monitoring of managers under supervision.
- Oversee daily resort operations as they relate to the operational departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maximize resort profitability by increasing revenues, exploring new revenue sources, and improving operational efficiency.
- Support long-term objectives focused on providing quality service, products, and maintaining exceptional physical property.
- Interview directors, managers, captains, supervisors, and hourly associates as time allows; approve evaluations and terminations.
- Ensure consistent hiring, training standards, and effective new hire orientation.
- Monitor quality hires, focused training, and timely evaluations.
- Ensure Forbes standards, luxury standards, and Guest Resolution Standards are met and staff are trained for proficiency in all guest service areas.
- Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources to hold directors and division managers accountable.
- Ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures, including payroll, cash management, inventories, P.O. procedures, allowances, and promo accounts, in partnership with the Controller.
- Facilitate clear communication with resort guests, management, associates, and outside contractors.
- Assist with guest inquiries in a professional and timely manner within 48 hours.
- Perform daily and weekly documented walk-throughs of the property focusing on cleanliness, service, associate presentation, and organization.
- Develop and implement a property-wide inspection form, ensuring a detailed and critical approach to improvements.
- Oversee M.O.D. reports, engineering projects, and night manager responsibilities.
- Participate fully in the Executive Committee, addressing all issues raised.
- Take responsibility for executing special projects or tasks assigned by the General Manager.
- Supervise the entire operation as directed by the General Manager.
- Represent operations at pre-con meetings, post-con meetings, M.O.D. meetings, and department head meetings.
- Maintain customer satisfaction scores: Revinate Guest Satisfaction 80% or better, Resort Guest Survey 94% excellent/good, and 8% all others consistently.
- Escort guests to their rooms and provide detailed orientation of resort facilities and services.
- Initiate courtesy calls after check-in to ensure guest satisfaction and offer assistance.
- Handle guest room reservation calls in a professional manner.
- Review daily arrivals, noting special requests, location preferences, and VIP status.
- Observe guest service staff to ensure adherence to established procedures, providing guidance and recognizing performance.
- Maintain complete knowledge of resort amenities, services, room types, occupancy, VIPs, group events, and daily activities.
- Communicate pertinent guest information to designated departments for special requests, amenity delivery, and any discrepancies.
- Develop business relationships with local service providers, including top restaurants, wineries, events, and transportation providers.
- Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a hotel director of rooms, operations or senior management
- Experience with Opera Cloud, HotSOS, and Profit Sword, preferred but not required.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent critical thinking and communication skills
