Job Description
The Engineering Estimator will be responsible for estimating a wide range of fabrication work from structural steel, simple bridge, heavy structural, railroad catenary and related structures. They will familiarize themselves with project specifications and bid documents in preparation for the estimate.
Main Responsibilities:
- Forecasting job requirements and managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Collaborating with shop personnel and shop foreman in job management through completion
- Managing projects with material needs, equipment, and personnel hours
- Continuing to follow safety and quality guidelines
- Managing POs and change orders through project completion
- Meeting with customers and vendors to review jobs and establish RFIs as required
Qualifications:
- Experience in the steel industry
- Ability to read and understand contract drawings and specifications
- 5 or more years of knowledge in procurement of materials and coordination of quotes from vendors
- Computer proficiency is required, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience in estimating
- Experience with take-off software
- Knowledge of AISC standards and industry code
- Great teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with a great work ethic
