Job Summary
The Sales and Marketing Representative role is responsible for generating sales across a competitive market involving multiple different-sized customers. This position requires strong customer relations as well as analytical skills in managing drilling day-work contracts and invoicing criteria.
This position is also expected to pursue and manage networking opportunities to maximize customer relationships, gain market intelligence, generate, and capitalize on sales opportunities.
Internal Relationships
Direct communication with sales colleagues, engineering, project managers, operations personnel (Rig Managers, Field Superintendents, Yard Managers, etc.) and other internal stakeholders.
External Relationships
Customers (drilling engineers, procurement, accounts payable, etc.), and in occasion Service Providers, Subcontractors, etc.
Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The Sales and Marketing Representative responsibilities include:
o Reports any hazardous situations arising in the workplace that cannot be self-corrected.
o Uses the correct PPE as provided by Ensign and guards against misuse or damage to such equipment.

- The Sales and Marketing position reports to the Vice President of Business Development and Contracts. The ideal candidate should have experience within the onshore drilling industry, effective communication, people skills, a high level of motivation/work ethic and a proven record in sales and management of a diverse customer base. The position directly impacts the company’s growth targets and the selected professional for the position must be able to deliver positive results.
- Due to the wide geographical area in which Ensign operates, up to 25% travel may be necessary.
- Variable work hours include regular after-hours, weekend, and holiday commitments along as well as regular travel within and outside assigned region.
- Must be flexible and willing to assist with new requirements as they arise.

The Sales and Marketing Representative responsibilities include:
- Efficiently leverage skills to attain sales leads across the drilling segment of the industry to attain positive business results.
- Effectively utilize negotiating strategies to maximize business advantage on contract terms, conditions, and pricing with customers consistently.
- Develop, and manage Customer relationships by building and maintaining strong connections with clients’ personnel to ensure visibility to sales opportunities.
- Understand and manage complex sales cycles to align with customer expectations to maximize sales revenue.
- Maintain accountability for contract closure to sustain a high level of rig utilization.
- Network with industry peers to gather drilling market intelligence to identify potential new business opportunities.
- Other relevant tasks as required by the position.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Technical knowledge and understanding of drilling markets, rig operational protocols, equipment, and technology
- Fully understand and leverage Company’s competitive advantages across a broad customer base.
- Develop competency in various EDR systems’ tower sheets to ensure accurate invoicing.
- Proven record of strong professional sales communication, acumen, and demeanor in interactions with customer representatives.
- Strong work ethics, initiative-taking, purposeful, and a team player.
- Analytical skills with an advanced ability for dissecting market trends and reports.
- Ability to perform unsupervised.
- Competent with CRM software.
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility in adherence to the Company’s travel and entertainment policy.
- Promote the Company brand to support Sales and Marketing Department initiatives.
- Represent the Company and our values with integrity while maintaining legal standards with all customer interactions.
- 5-10 years of experience in a sales role in the oil and gas industry with a focus on drilling rig operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or related field a plus.
- Sound understanding of technical concepts and ability to learn/understand technical/engineering requirements.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex contracts and agreements.
- Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven history of substantial understanding of the oil and gas industry drilling business and rig operations.
- Excellent contract review and negotiation skills.
- Basic understanding of Accounts Payable/Receivable.
- High mechanical/technical aptitude.
- Knowledge of regulatory drilling requirements/compliance standards related to the well drilling area of the oil and gas industry.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a challenging environment.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and be eligible to drive a Company vehicle (able to meet requirements of Company’s Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy.)
- Business Ethics – Understands fully Ensign’s ethics policy and its application in all business dealings including contract negotiations and agreements.
