JOB SUMMARY
The Survey Manager/Professional Land Surveyor works primarily in the Office, with occasional travel. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating office duties, supervising and managing field and office technicians, reducing field data, preparing scopes of work and pricing competitive proposals, quality assurance and quality control. Candidate shall be a Registered Professional Land Surveyor. Qualifications shall consist of previous pipeline and/or civil survey experience as a Professional Land Surveyor, Survey Manager or Supervisor. The candidate will lead others in the survey department to complete necessary assigned projects. They will communicate job duties and expectations to field personnel in order to perform their daily tasks. They will work with the Drafting/Mapping/GIS groups to produce drawings and maps needed for assigned projects. They will work with other project disciplines such as Environmental, Land and Engineering to complete project tasks. This individual will work effectively with other Professional Land Surveyors and managers in the survey department. Candidates must be able to QA/QC field data from survey crews and instruct survey techs to complete project tasks. This individual must be familiar with GPS and conventional survey equipment and possesses a thorough understanding of principles and practices of surveying.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
- Responsible for project execution by managing all survey related aspects of assigned projects.
- Analyze boundary information to instruct and lead others to complete plats
- Review, sign and seal survey plats
- Instruct and manage daily survey crew activities.
- Prioritize and assign survey requests as they are received from project team or client.
- Review and provide QA/QC for survey data.
- Coordinates with Survey Tech to ensure the completion and integrity of the survey.
- Oversee transmittal of notes and data as needed.
- Review and approve timesheets for billing purposes and reviews invoices for accuracy.
- Interviewing, hiring, and training of Survey personnel.
- Handles personnel issues and is responsible for corrective action plans.
- Be available for travel and working at project sites when necessary.
- Prepares proposals and project price quotes to clients.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Thorough understanding of principles and practices of surveying.
• Possess the necessary computer skills to download data collectors.
• Ability to read and interpret alignment sheets and other drawings.
• Facilitate data transfer, progress reporting and electronic timekeeping.
• Possess knowledge and expertise of various GPS equipment and conventional survey equipment.
• Adhere to and follow EnSiteUSA safety requirements, safety requirements of the client and individual project, follow any and all environmental requirements of the client and specific project requirements.
• Ensure a safe working environment for the office and field personnel under their supervision and is to stop work when safety is jeopardized until it is secured again.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Possesses a current, Registered Professional Land Surveyor License
• Ability to gain additional survey licenses is a plus
• Proficient skills in Microsoft Office software.
• Must keep current on new Survey equipment and software.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred.
• Basic to advanced Supervisory experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Current, and Valid Driver’s license
• Required to pass DOT mandated Operator Qualifications (OQ)
• Required to take and pass DOT mandated drug and alcohol testing and subsequent random testing as required.
