Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Building Maintenance Technician to join our team at Gateway Terminals. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the terminal's facilities, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building structures, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work.
- Inspect and troubleshoot issues in the terminal facilities, identifying and implementing effective solutions.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure equipment and systems' longevity and optimal performance.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders and inventory of supplies.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure the timely completion of maintenance tasks and projects.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and resolve issues efficiently.
- Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures.
Specific Skills Required:
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- HVAC Systems: Ability to maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Electrical Systems: Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical circuits, wiring, and fixtures.
- Plumbing: Skilled in repairing and maintaining plumbing systems, including pipes, valves, and fixtures.
- Carpentry: Ability to perform carpentry tasks such as framing, drywall installation, and finishing.
- Preventive Maintenance: Experience in developing and executing preventive maintenance programs.
- Safety Compliance: Knowledge of safety regulations and practices, including OSHA standards.
- Computer Skills: Familiarity with maintenance management software and basic computer skills.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members and management.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in building maintenance or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in building maintenance, preferably in a terminal or port environment.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform maintenance tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in various weather conditions.
Valued Certifications (Not Required):
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP): Recognizes individuals who have demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to lead maintenance and reliability initiatives.
- Building Operator Certification (BOC): Provides training in energy-efficient building operations and maintenance.
- HVAC Excellence Certification: Validates expertise in HVAC systems and technologies.
- EPA 608 Certification: Required for handling refrigerants, demonstrating proficiency in HVAC systems.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification: Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of occupational safety and health standards.
- Certified Facility Manager (CFM): Recognizes expertise in facility management, including maintenance and operations.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, and write, talk, type, and hear. The associate is occasionally required to sit, stoop, bend, kneel, and lift or move up to 50 lbs. The associate typically works in an office environment but frequently visits a warehouse or outdoor environment and can work days and weekends when needed.
