About the Position:
We are looking for a Claims Manager to join our legal team and be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of claims and risk management. You will be based in our Wellesley, Massachusetts office, and report to our Chief Legal Officer. For the right candidate, flexible/hybrid working arrangements are available.
Key Functions & Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all company claims, including insurance claims, litigation matters, and other third-party claims.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for insurance brokers/carriers, internal and external legal counsel, and internal stakeholders on claims-related matters.
- Develop and implement standardized and technology-enabled claims management processes across operating companies.
- Assist in negotiating settlements and ensuring cost-effective claims resolution strategies.
- Provide training and guidance to business units on best practices in claims management and risk mitigation, including developing processes for managing cargo and other third-party claims.
- Assist in evaluating and managing companywide insurance portfolio.
- Analyze claims trends, provide risk assessments, and recommend strategies to mitigate liability exposure.
- Other duties or projects as assigned by the legal department.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; JD or advanced degree in law, risk management, or a related field is a plus but not required.
- 5 years of experience in claims management, insurance, risk management, or a related legal field.
- Strong knowledge of insurance policies, claims handling, and legal principles related to liability and risk.
- Experience in maritime, transportation, or logistics industries is preferred but not required.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to work cross-functionally with teams throughout the company at every level.
