The Food Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing the food safety program across the Company, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company-specific policies. They will lead and supervise food safety practices, identify potential hazards, and create protocols to safeguard against contamination and ensure food quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain food safety policies and procedures in compliance with health and safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, FDA, USDA, OSHA).
- Monitor and enforce compliance with food safety standards throughout the food production or service process.
- Conduct regular inspections of food handling, storage, preparation, and sanitation practices to ensure food safety.
- Train and educate staff on food safety standards, including safe food handling, personal hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
- Respond to food safety emergencies, such as product recalls, contamination incidents, or health violations, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Perform regular audits and assessments to identify potential risks in the food production process and implement corrective measures.
- Work with quality control teams to ensure that all products meet safety and quality standards before distribution or sale.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation related to food safety audits, inspections, and compliance reports.
- Liaise with local and federal regulatory agencies as needed.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and emerging food safety technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field (or equivalent experience) a plus.
- Certification in food safety programs (e.g., ServSafe, HACCP certification).
- Primus GFS expertise a must.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
- Experience in food safety management or quality assurance roles, preferably in food production or food service.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and training skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Master’s degree or advanced certifications in food safety or a related field.
- Familiarity with ISO or other international food safety standards.
- Experience with various food safety management software and tools.
