Location: New Haven, Connecticut

The work environment involves hazards, risks, or discomforts typical of working with or around machinery with exposed moving parts, errant chemicals, heavy equipment, extreme heights, or abusive or hostile clientele and patients. Exposure to disagreeable weather conditions and extreme levels of temperature, ventilation, lighting, and noise levels in the work environment.

Position: Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled maintenance on heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, cranes, forklifts, and pay haulers.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Complete assigned repairs as designated by the supervisor.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in hydraulic repair (required).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in diesel repair (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus).
- Reliable, hardworking, and professional work ethic.
- Own tools and ability to work independently.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull 70 pounds, climb heavy equipment safely, bend, kneel, and work with arms raised for prolonged periods.
- Possess or have the ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Responsibilities:
- Perform Scheduled Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, cranes, forklifts, and pay haulers, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
- Diagnose and Repair Systems: Identify and troubleshoot issues in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, applying expert knowledge to perform necessary repairs efficiently.
- Adhere to Company Policies: Follow all company policies and procedures to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Complete Assigned Repairs: Execute repair tasks as assigned by the supervisor, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all work orders.
- Collaborate with Team: Work closely with other mechanics and team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.
- Provide Training: Train junior mechanics and apprentices on proper maintenance and repair techniques.
