SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The role involves processing incoming shipment Bills of Lading (BOL) from drivers, entering order information into the computer system, and ensuring the accuracy of shipping documents by verifying receiving receipts against open orders. The position requires interaction with truck drivers and team members regarding shipments and orders.
Shipping and Receiving Clerk employees must:
- Possess a valid TWIC.
- Steel toe boots/shoes.
- are not using cellular phones while on duty.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Have a strong attention to detail.
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist drivers, customers, and their representatives promptly and courteously.
- Professionally receive and process paperwork from operations and drivers, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Acknowledge and appropriately greet and assist every driver/customer or customer representative promptly.
- Maintain and monitor truck and receiving logs, ensuring all daily inventory control paperwork is completed accurately.
- Communicate with common carriers, computer input,
- Prepare outbound shipping documents, respond to inquiries, and process orders.
- Resolve product or service problems by clarifying the customer's complaint; determining the cause of the problem; advising management; offering solutions to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; and following up with the customer to ensure resolution.
- Review order-receiving documents in the AS400 system ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
- Maintain an organized and professional work environment.
- Process customer orders accurately, courteously, and efficiently, ensuring timely fulfillment.
- Generate billing accurately and promptly.
- Assist with any administrative or clerical duties that may be required.
- Manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Utilize office equipment, including copiers and fax machines, effectively.
- Exhibit professional phone etiquette by maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor.
- Maintain a friendly and professional image while interacting with customers and colleagues.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment with a courteous attitude.
- Self-starter and willing to research and resolve problems.
- Assists in team organization and daily workflow coordination.
