Job Title: Surgery Scheduler
General Summary of Duties: The Surgery Scheduler will report to the Site manager. The position requires utilization of clinical knowledge to schedule appropriate procedures/surgeries per provider’s orders. The Surgical Scheduler must schedule office based and hospital procedures consistent with the patient’s diagnosis and procedure request. The Scheduler position requires excellent customer service skills with patients, employees, and the public. The Surgical Scheduler must be able to respond to both written and oral correspondence regarding scheduling changes/cancellations in a timely, accurate manner. Individual must be organized, and be able to manage demanding workload with accuracy.

Position Responsibilities
- Contact patient with in 24 hours of receiving surgery order.
- Schedule patient for procedure with the practice and facility.
- Schedule anesthesia for procedure if needed.
- Schedule any reps/vendors that are needed.
- Obtain and complete all pre-op documents for surgery, including: scheduling form, pre-op orders, disclosures and consents, current H&P, and any other documents required.
- Communicate with patients via email/ phone to confirm place and time of surgery if applicable. As well as pre-op and post-op instructions.
- Ensures patients have proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as needed.
- Verify patient insurance and provide patient with quote regarding surgeon’s fees.
- Obtain prior authorizations and pre-determinations as needed.
- Triage incoming calls to the surgery department.
- Meet with doctors as necessary to ensure smooth surgery process.
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness in handling all patient interactions.
- Assist other members of the department as needed.
- Any other duties that are assigned by physicians, practice administrator, and/or management.
