About the Role:
EnTech is looking for an on-site “Cost Estimator” responsible for collecting and evaluating data on materials, labor, and time requirements. This individual will help forecast expenses, create budgets, and ensure cost efficiency for our projects.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Creating and updating project-level estimates at each stage of the project’s lifecycle.
- Developing initial, high-level conceptual estimates.
- Preparing preliminary budgets, order of magnitude scopes, and detailed cost estimates.
- Conducting quantity take-offs and determining labor and equipment requirements for project tasks.
- Sourcing material prices from vendors to validate project estimates.
- Estimating task productivity based on historical timelines and schedules.
- Generating cost estimates for comparison with bids on multiple projects.
- Reviewing contractor progress payment breakdowns for each project.
- Producing estimates for change orders.
- Assisting teams during negotiation processes.
- Conducting site investigations as required.
- Collaborating with project teams to define the scope of change requests.
- Comparing third-party contractor proposals with change order requests and negotiating adjustments.
- Developing force account estimates to support internal construction activities.
- Attending project and staff meetings as necessary.
- Preparing and reviewing estimates for construction support and value engineering change proposals.
- Developing and reviewing cost estimates for construction support or other assigned projects.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, technology-related field, or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience in an Engineering or Construction field, with an emphasis on cost estimation.
- Demonstrated experience with review of drawings and contract specifications.
- Demonstrated experience applying RS Means (or equivalent) effectively and successfully to ensure accuracy.
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of estimating computer applications and Microsoft Office.
- Experienced with Hard Dollar or equivalent.
- Knowledge of railroad construction practices.
- Excellent communication skills.
Estimated Annual Compensation:
$150,000- $180,000 based on qualifications and experience
