Quality Control Manager – Asphalt Production
Position Overview
The Quality Control Manager reports to the Construction Manager and is responsible for overseeing quality control inspectors on job sites. This role ensures compliance with contract specifications, oversees material inspections, and performs field and laboratory testing to maintain high-quality standards in asphalt production and construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee contractor’s on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and special provisions.
- Inspect materials arriving at the worksite and conduct sampling and testing of component materials and finished work per contract requirements.
- Maintain detailed records of daily operations and worksite events, including modifications to project plans.
- Perform field and laboratory testing for Base, Subgrade, Embankment, Pipe Backfill, and Core Thickness/Subgrade Depths and document results in density logbooks.
- Utilize basic math skills to compute and interpret test results.
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and cleanliness of testing equipment and work vehicles.
- Conduct required job site testing and adhere to project specifications and contract documents.
- Work closely with the Director of Technical Services to execute product testing procedures.
- Digitally sign and certify monthly FDOT compliance forms (700-020-02) for multiple projects.
- Utilize FDOT MAC system to manage QC plans, addendums, test results, and sample data verification.
- Communicate effectively with plant production teams, plant managers, contractors, and agency representatives to resolve quality-related issues.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to maintain or improve quality standards.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of college or equivalent technical training OR industry-related experience in roads, highways, and bridges.
- Proven experience as a Quality Control Manager in asphalt production or construction.
Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
