The plant manager (PM) plays a critical role that drives organizational excellence and ensures that timing, quality, safety, and production numbers are achieved as expected. The PM is an independent leadership position that will work with various executive and engineering teams to understand and aggregate all requirements. The PM will be responsible for managing all employees involved with the effective operation of the plant as well as delegating responsibilities based on the requirements set by the upper management. PM responsibilities include all plant operations, production, maintenance, quality, HR, finance, IT, and any other production-related activities on-site. PM will guide and direct other leaders within the facility and facilitate performance management processes with input from relevant stakeholders, ensuring a collaborative approach to employee development. PM will be responsible for activities directed toward anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of potential occupational and environmental health hazards; preventing injuries and illness of personnel during operations; and accomplishment of mission at acceptable levels of risk. PM will set the tone for safety among the workforce in accordance with OSHA requirements.
The facility in Finchville, Kentucky will house 4 large-scale high-pressure die casting machines as well as the post processing machines required to prepare the cast parts to be shipped to another location. All operating systems in the plant are within the scope of responsibilities. PM will be responsible for ensuring quality metrics are met as well as proper packaging processes are followed within the plant.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, coordinate, review, evaluate and improve the procedures and policies of the company, in addition to activities and initiatives.
- Implement cost-effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries. Keep track of budgets, and collaborate with partners, investors, Sales, Finance and Accounting departments to discuss strategies and thus be able to achieve all the economic objectives of the company.
- Plans and monitors both short and long-term budgets to ensure the plant meets the site’s financial commitments.
- Determine and coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to ensure the manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
- Control and minimize overtime, premium freight, and repair expenses.
- Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or adjust plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
- Implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs
- Motivate, inspire, and communicate with employees. Gain confidence, gain influence and credibility within the organization to cultivate and maintain good working relationships.
- Ensure all legal requirements, company safety procedures, and local and state health and safety regulations are met.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years plant manager experience.
- Candidates with significant experience in managing complex manufacturing operations will be highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business. Finance, Engineering, or a related field a plus but not mandatory
- Experience implementing lean principles, kaizen, six sigma, root cause analysis, etc.
- Exceptional leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate teams.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate with employees at all levels of organization.
- Automotive plant management experience.
- Powertrain or die casting experience is preferred but not required
