Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Performs a wide variety of construction and maintenance support activities in transmission, substation, and distribution related areas such as developing and maintaining the work methods and construction standards.
- Assist with training construction and reliability groups on updates to work method and construction standards.
- Uses engineering and/or technical principles, best practices, and knowledge of internal and external business issues to solve problems, develop cost-effective technically sound solutions, and improve products or services.
- Applies knowledge of engineering and/or technical principles in evaluating alternatives, making decisions, and interpreting/employing applicable electrical codes, procedures, standards, processes, and policies.
- Provides leadership and direction to others in the department.
- Work with other disciplines within the Power Delivery organization and other company business units to achieve stated goals.
- Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary
Minimum education required of the position
- Technical Degree (2-year Associate or 4-year Bachelor’s) and/or years of operational experience in electric utilities commensurate with progression level (15 years for Specialists and 20 years for Sr. Specialists).
- Preferred: Education and/or experience requirements in underground Distribution Lines.
- 8 years of experience with 4-year bachelor’s degree
- 12 years of experience with 2-year associate degree
- 16 years of experience with supervisory experience
- 20 years without degree
- Preferred: Underground Transmission and Distribution Systems and networks experience.
- In-depth knowledge of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area.
- Consistently demonstrates good judgement
- Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Good math skills.
- Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software.
- Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards.
- Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base.
