Job Title – Child Nutrition Program Assistant Lunchroom Manager
Supervised by/Reports to: Principal and Child Nutrition Program Lunchroom Manager
Supervises: Child Nutrition Program Workers as assigned
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Job Goal:
- To assist in providing direction, planning, monitoring, and oversight of local school Child Nutrition Program (CNP).
- To assist in supervising, directing, developing, and evaluating CNP personnel and designated staff to ensure quality and safety of school system food services.
- To assist in providing healthy, nutritious meals and food preparation services for students, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Experience in Child Nutrition Program preferred.
3. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
4. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
5. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Knowledge of Child Nutrition Program guidelines and regulations.
7. Ability to use technology as required to perform job responsibilities.
8. Ability to assist in the supervision, development and evaluation of assigned personnel according to school system procedures.
9. Ability to demonstrate leadership, organization, collaboration and planning skills to accomplish school goals and job requirements.
10. Ability to possess and maintain food safety certification.
11. Strength, stamina, agility, dexterity and acuity to perform job responsibilities safely and effectively.
12. Ability, agility and stamina to engage in prolonged standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, turning, reaching, and repetitive lifting up to 30 pounds.
13. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
14. Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays if necessary.
15. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
16. Such alternative qualifications to those listed as the Board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
1. Works cooperatively and productively with the principal and supervisors to ensure the system’s vision, goals and strategies are implemented and providing all pertinent data to all appropriate personnel within the designated time frame.
2. Assists in preparation and service of food according to the written menu of the day.
3. Performs duties in a courteous and professional manner.
4. Participates in and assists in supervising job rotations/schedules and in the storage and care of food as assigned by CNP Lunchroom Manager.
5. Assists CNP Lunchroom Manager in ensuring the smooth function of activities during meal times, filling in where necessary.
6. Assists CNP Lunchroom Manager in taking inventories, making reports, ordering food, supplies, and in following menus.
7. Demonstrates skills and knowledge in operation of and maintenance techniques for all food service equipment.
8. Assists in the general cleaning of the kitchen and dining areas.
9. Assists in storing commodities and other food and supplies.
10. In the absence of the CNP Lunchroom Manager, assumes the manager’s responsibilities.
11. Observes proper sanitation measures necessary in preparing, serving and storing food.
12. Observes safety precautions in the kitchen and related work areas.
13. Cooperates with the Principal, CNP Lunchroom Manager, and CNP Supervisor in maintaining high standards in the food service program.
14. Works cooperatively with co-workers, teachers, parents, and deals effectively with students.
15. Follows written and verbal instructions and communicates effectively with others.
16. Assists school CNP staff in interpreting the goals and objectives of the school food service program to students, teachers, parents and community members.
17. Maintains adequate and accurate records and controls including personnel, financial, inventories, operational, and purchasing of food, supplies and equipment.
18. Cooperates with health officials in supporting all local and state public health laws and codes.
19. Participates in and promotes in-service training, conferences, and continuing educational programs for self-improvement and for other CNP personnel.
20. Maintains professional appearance and dresses appropriately for school food service program.
21. Models and encourages CNP employees to observe high standards of grooming, safety, and effective work habits.
22. Uses computer software/technology for CNP operations as assigned.
23. Attends conference and training sessions to improve skills and programs.
24. Engages in professional growth and demonstrated professional ethics and effective leadership.
25. Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
26. Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
27. Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
28. Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel.
29. Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner.
30. Serves on school/system committees as required or appropriate.
31. Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
32. Properly uses and cares for tools, equipment, and material resources of the school system and effectively supervises and monitors others in the care, maintenance, and use of tools, equipment, and inventory.
33. Uses effective collaboration skills to work as an effective team member.
34. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
35. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
36. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by principal and/or supervisor.
Terms of Employment: In accordance with the Board's salary schedule.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Enterprise City Board of Education Policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
