Job Title – School Psychometrist
Supervised by/Reports to: Special Education Director
Supervises: Personnel as assigned
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Goals:
- To provide effective psychometry services and programs for students of the school system.
Qualifications:
1. Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
2. Valid Alabama teaching certificate. Certification as a school psychometrist or related field qualified to conduct individual intelligence and achievement tests.
3. Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
4. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Ability to provide or have access to appropriate transportation to perform job responsibilities at various school sites or other settings as required.
5. Demonstrates proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
6. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
7. Ability to work collaboratively as a productive team member.
8. Ability to use technology to communicate, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
9. Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
10. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
11. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
2. Maintains and submits weekly log of student referrals.
3. Assesses referred students through appropriate test selection.
4. Administers tests for initial referrals and reevaluations.
5. Determines needed follow-up with students, parents, and/or faculty.
6. Interprets and integrates referral information and evaluation results into a comprehensive report.
7. Enters eligibility information into the Alabama State Department of Education Database.
8. Attends referral meetings on individual students as needed.
9. Attends eligibility meetings on individual students.
10. Interprets the school psychological services to students, teachers, parents/guardians and administrators.
11. Confers with resource consultants, supervisor, coordinator, teachers and parents/guardians.
12. Conducts interview with parents of for specific exceptionalities.
13. Track data on timeline/reevaluation due dates for the Alabama State Department of Education.
14. Monitors student reevaluations.
15. Assists with compliance verification on transfers, reevaluations, and initial referrals.
16. Attend staff meetings, workshops, and professional organization meetings for staff development.
17. Assists with summer referrals to eligibility tasks.
18. Assists in maintaining files.
19. Confers with attorneys on due process cases as requested.
20. Develops and conducts in-service programs on new or updated assessments, evaluations, timelines, reevaluations, and other areas as needed.
21. Keeps informed regarding research in psychological and educational testing practices in the areas of test construction, test administration and test results interpretation.
22. Works with outside agencies to assist in providing appropriate assessments, placements and transition services.
23. Supervises and evaluates staff assigned in accordance with school system procedures and schedules.
24. Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding /student/school/workplace matters.
25. Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
26. Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel.
27. Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner.
28. Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
29. Properly uses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school system and effectively supervises and monitors students in the care, maintenance, and use of tools, equipment, and inventory.
30. Uses collaboration skills to work as an effective team member; serves, as requested, on committees, tasks forces or representative bodies.
31. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
32. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures; prepares for substitutes according to Board policies and school procedures.
33. Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by the Principal.
Terms of Employment: Nine-month position in accordance with the Board's salary schedule.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Enterprise City Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
