Job Description
Job Title – Student Services Supervisor
Supervised by/Reports to: Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent
Supervises: Certified and classified personnel as assigned
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Goal:
- To provide leadership in planning and coordinating non-academic services to remove barriers and enhance student success.
Qualifications:
1. Master's degree from an accredited university.
2. Valid Alabama certificate in educational leadership, administration, and/or supervision.
3. Three (3) years of successful teaching experience.
4. Three (3) years of successful administrative experience.
5. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama child Protection Act of 199 and Act No. 202-457.
6. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
7. Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
8. Demonstrated successful experience in working with students, parents, system staff and community agencies in working to resolve issues affecting the well-being of students.
9. Demonstrated successful experience in working with School Resource Officers and coordinating school safety initiatives/protocols to help ensure the safety of students and personnel.
10. Demonstrated successful experience in working with the Juvenile Court System to address issues of truancy, discipline and other issues affecting students’ progress.
11. Demonstrated ability to organize, coordinate and present professional development programs.
12. Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team member.
13. Ability to supervise and evaluate designated personnel and manage budgets.
14. Ability to use technology to communicate, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
15. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
16. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
1. Demonstrate support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
2. Plan, initiate and carry to completion a variety of assignments and work requirements related to students.
3. Collaborate with administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community agencies to resolve issues affecting the well-being of students.
4. Serve as the liaison with students, parents, system staff and community personnel in working toward resolving problems of truancy, delinquency, child abuse and problems in the home.
5. Coordinate Early Warning Court procedures and serve as Juvenile Court liaison.
6. Assist in the identification of potential dropout students from parent, student and school referrals.
7. Identify appropriate educational training programs and refer students to programs.
8. Coordinate Parent Project referrals/sessions.
9. Coordinate drug education programs.
10. Coordinate activities/schedules of School Resource Officers.
11. Coordinate school safety initiatives and serve as liaison to the State Department of Education regarding school safety/crisis management plans.
12. Prepare informative reports and presentations for district- and school-based personnel who use that information in performing their duties.
13. Assist with the evaluation and interpretation of the educational progress of students.
14. Keep informed of the latest guidelines, trends, accountability data and disseminate this information to district- and school-based personnel for the areas of responsibility.
15. Coordinate the preparation, analysis and submission of reports, studies, correspondence and other appropriate documents as required.
16. Lead professional development training and activities for areas of responsibility.
17. Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
18. Demonstrate initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
19. Work cooperatively and productively with the Superintendent and other administrative staff to ensure the system's vision, goals and strategies are implemented and provide all pertinent data to all appropriate personnel within the designated time frame.
20. Engage in professional growth and demonstrate professional ethics and effective leadership.
21. Report potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel.
22. Attend conferences and training sessions to improve skills and programs.
23. Respond to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner.
24. Maintain and submit reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
25. Properly use and care for equipment and material resources of the school system and effectively supervise and monitor others in the care, maintenance, and use of tools, equipment, and inventory.
26. Use effective collaboration skills to work as an effective team member.
27. Serves on committees, representative bodies, task forces, or as a system delegate as needed.
28. Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
29. Report absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
30. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or designee.
Terms of Employment: In accordance with Board's salary schedule.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Enterprise City Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
